It was cold and it rained all day in Leogang, Austria. We saw Joost finishing 4th in World Cup Four Cross round 4 after an exciting event. R.S.P. won the World Cup for teams.

The track in Leogang was something everybody talked about. It was difficult and the pouring rain made it even harder. That's why a lot of crashes happened, and we lost some favourites before the semi-finals.

Prokop (fastest in qualifications), Fischbach, Atherton and Graf (third in qualifications) went down. Graf pretty bad, he broke his leg and had to be transported by helicopter. Other names who were eliminated early: Gracia, Meijer, Rinderknecht and Mechura.

Joost did very well in Austria. He was going fast and he won all his heats till the big final, without any trouble. The last race of the evening had an interesting line up. Just like in Maribor: R.S.P. teammates Wichman, Slavik and Marosi stood next to World Champ Jared Graves.

Because Graves had proven he was the fastest starter on the muddy track, Joost had to ride tactical. He chose to make a high-low pass in the first turn and it almost worked. He got out in front of Graves but then his bike slipped in the mud and he could hardly stay on his bike. His all or nothing tactic was a good one but some bad luck prevented him to suprise Graves.

Slavik and Marosi passed him and all he could do is follow those three riders to the finishline, finishing 4th. More info tomorrow, with results and everything.

Here are some pictures made by the R.S.P. team-photographer Tom Hauke, who conquered the weather and was standing in the rain for the entire weekend.

As did the riders of course. The rain made it cold and the waiting (after crashes) made it worse. Joost and his teammates can look back at a quit succesfull weekend.
